Our Founding Story

Proactive Professionals was not built in a boardroom; it was built on a legacy.

When Ezra Mtshontshi served as a South African diplomat in Washington, D.C., during President Nelson Mandela's presidency, he understood something fundamental—that a nation's power is determined not only by its politics, but by how it presents itself to the world. He built bridges between governments at one of the most defining moments in South Africa's history.

His granddaughters, Ziyanda and Loyiso Mtshontshi, grew up carrying that understanding. Born in Washington, D.C., and raised in South Africa, they have always inhabited both worlds. From Pretoria, South Africa, they pursued their graduate education and career growth in Washington, D.C., while establishing a shared vision: to do for businesses and professionals what their grandfather did for nations—diplomacy.

Proactive Professionals was founded to bridge the gap between Africa and the world through media and communications, strategic partnerships, and development that creates a lasting impact. The firm is not a coincidence; it is a calling.
